Google has signed an agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to purchase several new solar farms, totaling 413 MW from 1.6 million solar panels.
Renewable energy will be used to power the two upcoming Google data centers, one in Clarksville, Tennessee, and the other in Jackson County, Alabama.

The two solar farms in Hollywood, Alabama and Yum Yum, Tennessee, will produce about 150 megawatts of electricity - these batteries together make up the largest solar farm ever built for Google.
Amanda Corio, Google’s senior head of energy and infrastructure, said in a blog post: “Deploying solar farms is not just about providing a cost-effective way to get clean energy.” “This will also be for Tennessee and Northern Alabama brings economic benefits.
“TVA's developer partners – NextEra Energy Resources and Invenergy – will employ hundreds of workers in the region, provide long-term lease payments to homeowners, and generate millions of dollars in economic activity and tax revenues for the wider community. ""
Speaking of DCD activities in London, at the end of last year, the head of the data center Google, Joe Cava, explained that the company "overpurchases renewable energy, because the sun in the day only shines, the wind does not blow all the time. We buy more Multi-data centers consume renewable energy because you have to adapt to the intermittent nature of the project."
The company also turned to TVA and its partners, NextEra Energy Resources and Invenergy, because "utility providers are experts in the field," Kava said. “And I prefer to buy renewable energy directly from them, let the experts do what they do best, and we will focus on what we think we are best at.
“But I also hope that it will be the product I want to buy. I think this is what our customers can do. We will say that this is the product we want and the market will start offering the products you want to buy.”
So far, Google said it has signed more than 30 long-term contractual commitments to buy renewable energy around the world, which has led to nearly $5 billion in investment.
