In order to ensure that the rapidly expanding renewable energy capacity and large-scale solar and wind energy projects are bidding to meet the delivery capacity and supply power to demand centers across the country, India has announced a wide range of options for establishing transmission projects.

Renewable Energy

According to Reuters, the Indian government plans to bid for a 54 GW transmission project by March 2020. The value of these projects is approximately $5 billion. A senior official of the Ministry of New Energy and Renewable Energy of India said that by June this year, 16 GW of transmission projects will be tendered.

By December 2018, India has completed the bidding for the 12 GWwa transmission project, and from July 2019 to March 2020, it will bid for 38 GW of transmission projects.

It is understood that the bidding plan for the transmission project is customized according to the government's publicly announced renewable energy project bidding plan. The government will complete all solar and wind power generation project bids by the end of March 2020, and then complete the solar installation at the end of March 2022. Wind power installed to reach 100 GW and 60 GW respectively.

In order to complete the above-mentioned renewable energy power generation policy, India needs to increase the construction of transmission and distribution infrastructure to absorb the planned integration of renewable energy. As a result, the Indian government program has expanded bids for transmission projects.
